What does it mean to step inside a picture-perfect story?

Welcome to a sunlit street in Japan, where a green tram passes the cherry blossoms and small shops line the road. This is Strolling in the Sunshine LKS01, a mechanical wooden puzzle from ROKR.

Like a Book, But Not a Book

At first glance, it looks like a quiet book nook, with its miniature scene of a classic green tram, clear sky, and cherry blossoms behind a transparent cover. But this little street has moving parts to discover.

Tap the touch switch, and there’s lighting, music, and shifting scenery. The tram glides on its rails while the clouds roll through the sky. And there’s more.

Open the front flap like a book cover, and more of the street is revealed, including the ramen shop at the bottom. Look closely beside it, and you’ll notice a boy riding past a takoyaki stand. There are smaller details to discover around him, too.

Motors and gears drive the mechanical movements, bringing the miniature scene to life. With 339 pieces and an advanced difficulty rating, you’ll be building both the street and the mechanisms that keep it moving.

What’s in This “Ordinary” Afternoon?

Strolling in the Sunshine features a familiar, everyday scene. Look closely, though, and the details give you plenty to follow.

Light Up the Afternoon

Warm LEDs glow through the scene like golden-hour sunshine. After dark, the light picks out the little shops and street details on your shelf.

Listen for the Station Melody

Built-in music accompanies the moving scene. You can also mute it while keeping the lights and motion on, if you’d rather watch the tram pass by without the soundtrack.

Ride the Gliding Tram

A classic green tram travels slowly back and forth along its sakura-lined track, driven by a small motor and gears.

Watch the Sky Drift By

A looping backdrop of blue sky, white clouds, and distant mountains turns slowly behind the street.

Open the Cover on a Hidden Street

The clear front cover opens like a book cover, revealing more of the street and the ramen shop below the track. It looks ready for its first customers of the day, with the tram passing overhead.

Follow the Boy and His Cat

A boy and a cat circle past the takoyaki stand together. Their small route adds another moving scene to watch beneath the tram.

Spot the Tiny Stories

A ramen shop sits beneath the tracks, a vending machine stands beside the takoyaki stall, and stools line the counter of a small skewer shop. Even the signs and little street details invite you to stop and look again.

Turn It Around

Display it cover-facing-out as a scene, or side-facing-out as a bookend, to suit your shelf or desk. Two sides are transparent, so you can see the layered scenery and the mechanics at work from more than one angle. The closed cover also helps protect the scene from dust.

Tap to Set the Mood

The ROKR logo on top is a touch switch, and the model is powered by USB Type-C (cable not included). Tap once to turn on lights, music, and movement. Tap again to silence the music while the lights and motion continue. You can also double-tap to pause the movement without switching the model off, or use a long press to turn it off.

Take On the Build

This kit is rated advanced at 5/6 stars, with an estimated assembly time of about eight hours. The wooden structure and molded parts come together without glue. Take your time with the moving parts and follow the assembly instructions for fitting and lubrication.

Pave the Street Yourself

There’s more to this little street than the finished view. As you put it together, you also assemble the mechanisms behind the passing tram, the changing sky, and the boy and his cat. The scenery and the engineering take shape together.

It’s a project to give time and attention to, over one long session or several shorter ones. Fitting the parts and checking the movement are part of the build. When the tram finally runs along the track, you’ll know what went into that small, ordinary journey.

It’s a quiet, ordinary scene you piece together with your own hands. The cherry blossoms and shopfronts give it character; the movement gives you a reason to come back and watch it again.

Are You Ready to Stroll?

This kit is for advanced builders who want a challenge, and book nook fans ready for a model with real motion. Be prepared to assemble gears and motorized parts and connect wiring. Allow time to follow the instructions carefully and check that the moving parts work as intended.

Strolling in the Sunshine also has plenty for anyone who enjoys Japanese street scenes. The sakura, ramen shop, takoyaki stand, and classic green tram give you familiar details to explore at miniature scale.

The ROKR kit is recommended for ages 14 and up. It can be a solo hobby, a shared project with family or friends, or a gift for someone who enjoys detailed builds and has time for an advanced project.

Your Own Sunshine

Strolling in the Sunshine brings ROKR’s moving mechanisms into a book-shaped miniature scene. Open the cover, follow the tram, and take another look down the little street.

Once the build is finished, that ordinary spring afternoon is still there on your shelf, with details you know because you put them together yourself.
