A Brave Step into the DIY World - Meet Moares' Journey

Nov 21, 2025 Micheal I.

Model building, ships, sea animals, and small constructions had always interested Moares, but the tangles of the old-fashioned kits had always paralyzed him. But one day, he found out the glue-free, click-and-snap ROKR world, and it was the point where the real adventure started.

Discovering the Kit that Called Moares' Name

Being an obsessive fan of the sea and ships, Moares remembers reading model-making message boards and longing to create a project that he could be passionate about. He came across the challenge of the ROKR Seahorse and decided, “Yes, this is it.” Even after knowing it was going to be a complicated one, he had already made up his mind about starting his journey.

He states:

I knew nothing about the community, and it took me a while to build it… But I made it! And man, how proud I am!

This moment of deep personal experience was his entry point. If you’re reading this story, remember this: if you’re drawn to something, even if it seems complex, go for it; that attraction matters. It can give you the push you need to complete the task.

Taking It One Step at a Time

Moares did not attempt to pass the kit in a weekend, but made his progress in a gradual nightly-duty fashion, one or two steps each evening, separated by intervals.

I like to go slow with it, one or two steps a day before going to bed and not every day in the week.

This approach is a bright tip: building a complex model doesn’t mean you have to finish everything in one sitting. You’re only going to end up frustrated. Be consistent, relaxed, and enjoy the process - instead of treating it like a race.

The Triumph Amidst Fragile Moments

The build wasn’t flawless, but that’s part of what makes it beautiful. Moares shares candidly:

Those ‘you can carefully bend me and you’ll actually have to’ pieces are SO delicate, I actually broke two of them…One was pretty easy to fix, but the other was quite the annoying thing…a little drop of instant glue was my unexpected friend here.

If you encounter challenges during your build and you’re wondering if you can fix them, do not panic. This shows that you can succeed even as a first-timer. Yes, there will be a few hiccups and some delicate parts that need to be treated gently, but you’ll prevail. Just be careful not to apply excess pressure.

The Joy of Seeing the Kit Come to Life

Despite the setbacks, the final result brought pure pride. Moares writes:

I actually had fun and it was easier than expected…Either way, I’m loving how it looks.

Indeed, the model transformed from flat pieces into something mechanical - a ship with character and more. For new users, this illustrates that efforts, time, and patience eventually yield a tangible treasure.

When Moareas posted his story, the Community rallied. Appreciation and encouragement were rushing in under the comments. That’s the same thing you get when you’re able to comb through the challenge. It is important to know that you are not alone because you are able to mingle with other creators.

A New Beginning

In a span of a few weeks, Moares went from “I’ve always wanted to do this” to ‘I’ve done this - beautifully”. His first build wasn’t just a completed ship; it was a milestone.

For curious builders like Moares, turn your curiosity into growth. By the time you’ve finished the model, you’ll have a beautiful piece that will stand tall on your shelf. You’ll feel the pride, the journey, and the connection.

Do not let anything stop you!
